This past Friday Walker tripped and fell into the edge of a table at school. I guess he decided it was about time to earn some boy stripes. When Matt and I arrived at daycare Walker wasn't even crying but, whew, this is what I saw. I immediately called mom to see who was available from Plastics to come stitch him up and we headed to the ED.
Walker was such a trooper as we waited for the Plastic surgery doctors to come take a look and stitch him up. He had to have some medicine to help chill him out before they would stitch him up. He was quite a hilarious character with Versed on board.
Sweet little hiney in his hospital gown. So cute!!
Walker did a great job although he hated being held down a bit. We did our best to keep him distracted as he needed 10 stitches. It was such a deep laceration that it ended up being a two layer closure. I promised him an ICEE from the 3rd floor once he was done. He was a trooper and chilled out watching movies on the iPad and downing his ICEE, 3 Popsicles and a few bites of a taco. He did have some not so nice moments as we were trying to get him dressed to go home. Fortunately, by the time we got the car and began to pull out of the parking garage, he passed out.He slept in Grammie's arms for a good long while as the Versed wore off. When he woke up he asked when we were going to get his boo boo fixed. The beauty of Versed. . . he remembers nothing about being at the hospital or being stitched up. It has certainly worked in our favor as he has left the bandaid alone and it has had time to heal.
It took two days for his little eye to finally look bruised.
By Monday he had quite the shiner but was happy and his typical 2 1/2 year old self. He/we have earned some boy stripes and will be happy to go a good LONG while before we earn any more. :)
