I'm finally getting around to posting about the transformation of Walker's bedroom to become Walker and Lillian's bedroom. Yay! So, when we found out we were having a girl I began scouring Pinterest and blogs to find some good ideas for shared bedrooms as well as began purchasing supplies. I wanted something classic and something that would work for both genders.
Some of the supplies for the transformation.
So to begin, we needed to purge the room of the toddler bed. A friend from work ended up buying it for her nephew. Perfect! So out went the cowboy look. I was a little sad to see it go as I had made all of the bedding when I was pregnant with Wyatt.
I found a great idea of putting wooden letters on a canvas. I bought the letters online from Craft Cuts and an etsy store, painted one canvas a blue wash and one a pink wash, and stained the letters with a sunwashed stain. Voila! Beautiful!
Beginning with Miss Lillian's side since that side was completed first. (Don't worry, Walker had his new twin mattress and boxspring to sleep on with his bedding. His bedframe just wasn't ready.) For Lillian, I want something super girly and classic. I found great fabric on Fabric.com. Since I had sewn bedding before for a crib, it was super simple, and I remembered the tweeks I wanted to make to help it be more functional and last.
The crib!
The outside of the bumper is a super soft minky fabric in a gorgeous gray vine pattern. The inside of the bumper and the sheet are a pink damask, and of course there are BOWS!
Looks cozy!
Lillian's side of the room complete!
Now, Walker's side of the room. After looking and looking and looking for the perfect twin bed I came up short. I wanted to make sure it was sturdy and would stand the test of his boyish ways as well as the test of time. I loved a bed from Pottery Barn Kids but the reviews weren't to great about it holding up over time. So my solution was to have Matt build my vision. It turned out GREAT!
Walker was SO excited!
Here is the completed room. I am loving how things turned out!
