For our home change. . . Ever since we bought this house I have wanted to have built-ins done in our living room on a wall that was screaming for them. My dad is amazing as his craftsmanship, so he took a rough sketch I drew and made it a reality. And we are L-O-V-I-N-G them!!! Here is a brief look at the progression. We had a large armoire with our tv and storage below (not much storage either) and some toy shelves for Walker's toys. After getting the call that installation was ready to begin (Dad constructed the built-ins at the shop and painted them there too), we cleared off the wall. Dad and Matt worked over several evening to install them. The shelves were so large that Dad needed and extra set of hands to lift and maneuver them without dinging up the white lacquer. The bottom pic is with Wyatt and Walker sitting in the selves to give you a perspective of how ginormous they really are!
Here is the pic of the almost finished product with shelves placed. All the shelves are adjustable which is fabulous and the cabinets below also have adjustable shelves in them. Dad spent a few afternoons this past week adding the crown molding which is such a fab finishing touch. We plan on doing crown molding throughout the entire first level after Walker's birthday party next week. I have had fun, fun this weekend getting some home decor, books and pics up on the shelves this weekend, and the cabinets below are organized with dvds, art supplies, and a cabinet for each boy with their toys. (trying to minimize any squabbles over Walker getting into Wyatt's toys if at all possible. Yeah right but worth a shot.)
The boys have had an absolute blast having Papa over a bunch as he worked to get the built-ins installed. However, we had to keep them busy so he could actually get some work done. Here is Walker staying busy. Such a cutie.
Unfortunately, being a baby is hard too. This week Walker fell and scratched up his head as well as had a fever and had to stay home from daycare. I spent my days Wednesday and Thursday snuggling a VERY clingy lil guy. Hoping he is all better by his birthday this Thursday and his party on Saturday.
Wyatt started playing soccer this spring. After our last game got rained out as well as several practices, we were excited to see how the first game would go this Saturday. It was fun watching the boys attempt to kick the ball and run all over the place. Also very funny seeing goals scored for the wrong team several times. Wyatt had fun and seemed quite excited. He did manage to score a goal even if it was an accident. We'll count it.
I spent my time sewing, decorating, preparing for Walker's party, spending time out and about with Wyatt. I am loving decorating the house. I found fabric for the master bedroom on Friday and whipped up some curtains Friday night and the accent pillowcases on Saturday. I have a few more linens to get to complete our bedroom look, but so far I am quite happy.
