Friday was a special day at school for Wyatt. Not only was it Grandparent's Day where the kids get to host their grandparents for a lunch, but the 2nd grade teachers decided to also do their class butterfly release so the Grandparents could see as well as any parents who wanted to come. Grammie went to eat lunch with Wyatt and visit his classroom and was able to stick around to see the butterflies.
Wyatt's class has been studying butterflies for several weeks now and have grown the butterflies from tiny caterpillars. This was the most amazing thing to watch as the butterflies were released and flew up. They were then drawn to the children holding oranges to eat. It was AWESOME!!!
Love the sheer blissfulness of Wyatt's face as he waits for the butterflies to find his orange.
I have never seen a butterfly eat before. It was the coolest thing to see one so close just sucking the juices up from the orange.
Certainly an awesome, hands on learning experience for sure!!! The kids loved it! The grandparents loved it! The parents loved it! It was one special memory.
