Well, after weeks of bedrest due to preterm contractions, I am officially full term at 37 weeks. Last week it kept looking like baby Madeline was ready to come although a bit early. Early Friday morning I ended up at the hospital with contractions coming every 3 minutes. After spending all day being monitored, I was only dilated to 3cm. Since Madeline was still considered preterm and looked so great on the monitor, we were sent home to bake her a bit longer. It has been a LONG weekend of more contractions. I followed up today with my OB for my 37week checkup and growth ultrasound since Madeline measured so big at 32 weeks.
So, the ultrasound revealed that Madeline is very big at greater than 97th percentile. Her estimated fetal weight today was 8lbs and 11oz!!! OMG!!! I am still only dilated to 3cm and she is very high up. After much contemplation and discussion of risk and benefits, it has been decided that I will have a csection 2 weeks from today unless my water breaks or I go into active labor between now and then, in which case the csection will just be sooner. I really can't believe we're at this point and now we will be ending my last pregnancy with a csection. Boo!
In the meantime, in an effort to keep my mind off how uncomfortable I am as well as the impending csection, I am soaking up time with my kiddos and especially loving on our Lillian who is about to no longer be the baby of the family.
I am also getting prepped and ready for each of the kid's upcoming birthday parties over the next three months since I'm sure adjusting to life with 4 and recovering from a csection is going to be a lot.
Stay tuned, soon our Madeline will be here! This mommy is SO ready!!
