Madeline Ann Hill arrived February 26th at 12:44 p.m. weighing in at 8 pounds 9 ounces and measuring 21 inches long!! We are elated!
After discussing how big our sweet girl was measuring at my 37 wk appointment, we made the decision to move forward with a csection due to concerns for her not being able to come out the traditional way due to size. So, with constant contractions for over a week, Thursday night they started harder and were coming about every 4 minutes by early Friday morning. I was managing okay, so I decided to wait until my doctor's office opened. I was seen pretty quickly and clearly in labor with consistent contractions and dilated to 4cm. After seeing Dr. Ellington, notifying Matt and my parents it was baby day, I headed over to L&D to start prep for a csection around lunchtime. The prep was busy with much to do before the csection and by this point my contractions were every 2-3 minutes. Whew!
Having a csection is surreal. The spinal block was amazing and besides feeling pulling and pressure, it wasn't bad at all. Dr. Ellington did an amazing job and kept me informed of everything going on. It was great to hear the sound of sweet Madeline's cry and the team noting how much beautiful hair she had.
We all put in our guesses as to her weight with Dr. Ellington guessing just perfect at 8 pounds 9 ounces. They had the baby warmer positioned perfectly so I could see her getting cleaned up and assessed as well as measured and weighed. I couldn't wait to snuggle her.
Matt held her to me so I could love on her for a bit before they took her to the nursery. This is heaven.
After finishing up, I went back to my room to meet up with Matt and my mom. They brought Madeline to me pretty quickly and since I didn't have to recover from anesthesia, I felt pretty good. Matt picked up the kids from school and brought them up to meet their baby sister. Lillian wasn't too sure at first and the boys were just over the moon.
My parents got to love on our sweet new addition too. It was great to soak up our Madeline.
I had prepared gift bags for each kiddo from Madeline. Lillian was so excited to get presents from her sister and LEGOS!!!
Once my crew headed out, Mom stayed with me and I just soaked it all up. I LOVE the newborn stage and knowing this is most certainly my last (I had a tubal done since I had the csection), I am treasuring every second.
Welcome to the world Madeline Ann Hill!
You are already so loved and adored!
