A Pretty April Weekend

We stayed pretty busy this weekend with all sorts of activities. On Friday night Grammie came over to babysit Wyatt while Matt and I went out to eat and to a class on the "Art of Nurturing Boys." It is a two week class given by Stephen James and David Thomas, and let me just tell you IT IS AWESOME! I've never been given this much insight and as many tools as these two men have compiled to help raise my little Explorer along the journey to becoming a man. It is amazing and I can't wait for next week.

On Saturday the weather was beautiful allowing us to get outside. Matt got out the $1 kite he bought for Wyatt just to give it a try and see if Wyatt would even be interested. Well, he was interested. It was so much fun seeing Wyatt run back and forth across the yard actually getting the kite to take flight. The breeze might have helped a little ;) Wyatt had a blast and that amazing little $1 kite hasn't torn up yet. Shocking.

After Wyatt tired from the kite, we decided to start working on what has been a scraggled mess of weeds and plants on the side of our house. We are thinking it would be fun to get Wyatt involved in helping us dig up this mess and plant something more appealing. We shall see how it goes. It is still a work in progress.
Here is our BIG helper using HIS shovel to help dig.
On Sunday we were off to church, which Wyatt calls "going to see Jesus" no matter how many times we say "Yes, we are going to church." This Sunday Wyatt was not a fan of the cute outfit I put together for him. He kept saying "I can't want this dress. I can't want this dress." Basically he hated having two shirts on with the top one being a button down shirt. He thinks an undershirt should do. Oh well, he did get over it. On the way home after lunch I drove through McDonalds to get a coke, and oh my, we HAD, HAD, HAD to get out to play at the indoor playground. We are really working on Wyatt not using a whiny voice when he asks for something. I don't want a whiny hiney child! So once he asked in a big boy voice we rewarded him by letting him play for five minutes. He had a blast! By the time we got back home he was completely tuckered out.

After Wyatt's nap we headed off to Home Depot to get some parts for our now broken washer. (Which stinks since I was on the last load of the weekend when it went out. It stinks more for Matt because they were all his clothes.) We also planned to check out the flowers there as well. Well, Wyatt was being so good exploring but staying close, not touching too many things. As we headed to the garden department Wyatt went to push open the sliding glass doors and literally in the blink of an eye his left arm was sucked between the stationary glass door and the sliding glass door. It was quite scary. Matt was able to quickly push apart the two doors releasing Wyatt's arm. His left wrist swelled pretty quickly, so of course, this terrified mom was worried his wrist was broken. After MANY, MANY tears, an episode of vomiting due to crying so hard, application of an ice pack, I was better able to see his wrist getting him to move it, squeeze my hand, feel all around for point tenderness, and see that it was just a soft tissue injury that would probably be fine with some ice, and of course, a blue coconut slush from Sonic. According to Home Depot's policy we filled out an incident report and they gave Wyatt a little apron for being a tropper. He, however, did not want to wear it. Could be he had some hard feelings about their magic door that sucked his arm up. I don't think he will be playing with those doors anytime soon. Whew, just a little scary moment for mommy & daddy, but all is well. Actually, this morning when Wyatt got up at 7:45!!!! his wrist looked perfect with no swelling or bruising! Amazing!
The cute apron Wyatt got.

Finally, to round out our weekend we played in the yard with a bat and some cheap, I mean cheap balls that broken upon impact. Oh well. After cleaning up so well as Wyatt will help do with instruction ;) we headed off to dinner at Sportsmans with Papa and Uncle Greg. Wyatt after warming up will be such a ham. He asked Papa all about going on a BIG boat and catching BIG fish. He is quite interested in this. It is funny funny funny to listen to him.
Here is Wyatt cleaning up the broken balls.
We really had fun, minus on small trauma, this weekend. Hopefully next weekend our washer will be fixed and we can finish our planting project. We hope everyone has a great week!
