Starting to Get Ready for Baby

So it has really hit me this week that in about 10-11 weeks our world is about to change DRASTICALLY! I have become quite spoiled in having a child who has slept through the night for several years now, is potty trained, can feed himself, and can tell us what he needs or wants. I'm trying to recall being up every 2-3 hours at night for diaper changes and feedings, trying to figure out what each type of cry means, and just feeling overall exhaustion! It has also occurred to me that here I am 28 weeks pregnant and haven't done anything to prepare for this baby. When I was pregnant with Wyatt I had made all my baby bedding, begun washing clothes and filling his closet, and had all the baby furniture set up by this time. Whew, I am already feeling the shaft that I have given baby #2. Ooops!

Well, this weekend I decided to start making some plans and getting things together. Another reason we have put this off is in hopes that we might be able to move into a new home before baby arrives. As I don't want to feel pressured to get into a new home or get an unexpected early surprise, Matt got up in the attic to get down the crib and the many tubs of baby gear that I had stored away since Wyatt has outgrown it. I went through the tubs pulling out the baby clothes, burp cloths, blankets, baby toys and other gear. It has been fun looking at these little tiny clothes and remembering Wyatt in them. Matt worked on getting the crib put together. Wyatt was quite the little helper in all of this madness too!
Baby clothes bomb!
Wyatt loved helping Daddy put the crib together. When they were done he exclaimed, "Oh no, baby Walker is going to need blankets! He can use mine!" He proceeded to place his special blankets in the crib. How sweet is he?!!! He is one AWESOME big brother already! Love him to pieces!

After getting the crib together, Wyatt and Daddy worked to get the baby swing I got for Christmas all assembled. Wyatt looked at all the parts and pieces and decided he needed to read the instruction manual. How funny is he?!

Wyatt was so proud to be Daddy's little helper!

So, at least the crib is together as well as the swing. I have made a list of a few things I need to get at the store. Of course, I still need to do some laundry of the baby clothes and get them organized and hung up in the closet (they are currently piled into the crib). I am planning on painting a name canvas for the room and updating some burp cloths with fabric that matches the baby bedding (which I still need to put in the crib). Much more to do to get the baby's room ready, but at least a start has been made.
One more little note courtesy of sweet Wyatt. . . This morning when we got up Wyatt says, "Is that baby asleep in there?" (pointing to the nursery) I inform him that, no, the baby is still in my tummy to which he says, "When's that baby gonna come outta there?" Me, dying laughing, tells him, "Not for another 10 weeks or so." He was a little dismayed. At least he is gearing up for baby too. Not sure how long that will last, so we will enjoy it while it does (and get a laugh or two in the process)!
